San Luis Obispo Wine Tour
From Coastal Secret Spots to Edna Valley Estates — We Know SLO Wine Country
San Luis Obispo Wine Country Is More Than Paso Robles
Most visitors come to San Luis Obispo County for Paso Robles — and we love Paso. But SLO wine country stretches much further than those inland hills, and some of the most memorable tasting experiences on the Central Coast are happening right along the coast itself.
Edna Valley, barely 10 minutes from downtown SLO, produces world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from vines cooled by morning fog rolling off the Pacific. And down in Avila Beach, just a few miles further, you'll find one of the most unique wine experiences in California — a tasting room one block from the sand, with wines grown just over a mile from the ocean and fresh oysters shucked right on the patio.
Put it all together with a coastal lunch and a walk on the beach, and you've got a very different kind of wine country day. We've been designing these tours for years, and they're some of our favorites to run.

Highlights of an SLO Wine Tour
Sinor-LaVallee in Avila Beach
One of the most special stops in all of SLO wine country. Mike Sinor and his family grow their estate fruit just 1.2 miles from the Pacific Ocean and pour it in a tasting room one block from the sand in downtown Avila Beach. The "Shuck Shack" out back features fresh Morro Bay oysters, cheese and charcuterie, and locally sourced snacks that pair beautifully with a glass.
Edna Valley Estates
The Edna Valley AVA sits just inland from the coast and is the cool-climate heart of SLO wine country — known for its elegant Chardonnay and silky Pinot Noir. Chamisal, Tolosa, Biddle Ranch, and Baileyana are among our favorites here, each with its own distinct character and setting. It's a perfect companion to an Avila Beach morning, or a great standalone day on its own.
Lunch on the Avila Beach Promenade
Downtown Avila Beach has excellent lunch options right along the waterfront. Blue Moon Over Avila is a French wine bistro with an ocean view and a menu of seasonal California-Mediterranean dishes — escargot, Croque Monsieur, fresh seafood, beautiful salads. The Custom House, one of the town's anchors, serves solid pub fare and is famous locally for its Bloody Mary.
Combine with Paso Robles
Paso Robles is about 30–35 minutes from SLO, which makes it easy to blend both regions into one full day. Start with cool-climate coastal wines in the morning and finish with bold Paso reds in the afternoon. We plan these combination tours regularly — just let us know and we'll map it out.
“We had a great time in Paso Robles much thanks to Paso Robles Wine Tours. From planning our trip and getting quick responses to all our questions, to visiting 3 wineries during the day, they were great to work with. We don't know the area. Their expertise and suggestions made for an unforgettable day where we got a great feel for the area and tasted many great wines. Thank you!”
