Our Favorite Paso Robles Sustainable Wine Spots
Tablas Creek Vineyard
In 2020, Tablas Creek became the world’s first Regenerative Organic Certified® vineyard, earning gold-level certification in 2022 for their commitment to soil health, animal welfare, and farmworker fairness. Known for both these values and the exceptional quality of their wines, Tablas Creek stands as a leader in sustainable winemaking.
Cass Winery
Cass Winery, with its 145-acre vineyard and full production facility, has prioritized resource conservation in Paso Robles since the early 2000s. As a Certified California Sustainable Winegrower, Cass focuses on reducing its carbon footprint through sustainable farming and agritourism. Solar energy powers its wine operations, tasting room, and Inn, including a Smartflower installation alongside traditional solar panels. A water recycling system also supports a naturalized reservoir, promoting native wildlife within the vineyard.
Booker Wines
In the fall of 2023, Booker Vineyard's 60-acre estate achieved Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC™) status, following its California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) certification in 2021. These milestones mark nearly 20 years of commitment to sustainable farming, with a focus on regenerative viticulture that goes beyond organic practices to enhance the ecological and social health of the farm and community.
Halter Ranch
Halter Ranch’s 200 acres of vineyards are all certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers. Powered by a solar field with over 1,000 panels, Halter Ranch offsets 100% of winery operations and 58% of overall site operations, cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 522 metric tons annually. Additionally, a rainwater harvesting system captures enough water for the entire winemaking process and vineyard irrigation, and the winery is investing in electric tractors to further reduce diesel usage.
Castoro Cellars
Castoro Cellars’ vineyards are entirely cultivated in accordance with California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) standards, which comply with USDA regulations. This certification includes the Cobble Creek, Whale Rock, Stone’s Throw, and part of the Blind Faith estate vineyards. Each vineyard is farmed without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. In addition to being 100% organically grown, all vineyards are also 100% SIP certified.
