What Not to Miss This Harvest Season in Paso Robles (2026)

Harvest is the best time of year to visit Paso Robles, and I drive these roads every week, so I mean that. In October the crush pads run, the whole valley smells like fermenting fruit, and the wineries throw the parties they save all year for. Here is what I would not miss this season, in order, so you can plan around it.

One thing up front: October is Harvest Wine Month, so there is more happening than anyone could attend. This is my honest shortlist. The ticketed dinners sell out, so if one grabs you, book it, and let us handle getting you there and back.

Thacher Barn Dinner Party — October 3

A barn dinner in the Kentucky Ranch Barn to kick off the month. Long tables, good wine, early-harvest energy. An evening event, so a good one to let someone else drive.‍ ‍

Burger Sunday at Caliza Winery — October 4

Wine, gourmet burgers, and live music on a Sunday afternoon. Relaxed and walk-up friendly, a nice anchor for an easy tour day.

Harvest Chef's Table Dinner with Chef Kean McCabe at Epoch — October 8

A serious food-and-wine evening at Epoch Estate, around $200 for members. It is a short drive from central Paso, exactly the after-dark trip where a driver earns its keep.‍ ‍

Sunset Lobster Boil at Cass Winery — October 9‍ ‍

A seafood boil in the vineyard as the sun goes down. Cass does vineyard dinners well, and this is peak harvest.

Cleaver & Cork: Live Fire Winemaker's Dinner at Dresser — October 10

Live-fire cooking paired with the winemaker walking you through the pours. Intimate, hands-on, and out at the winery in the evening.

Opolo Harvest Fest Dinner & Grape Stomp — October 16 and 17

The one guests still talk about years later. You stomp grapes, there is folk dancing, and the food is a feast: oysters, whole roasted lamb, Sarma, and more on Opolo's hilltop. It runs Friday and Saturday and sells out every year, with Saturday often going to a waitlist early. Around $140 members, $160 non-members. Do not wait on this one.

A French Countryside Harvest Dinner at Brecon Estate — October 16

Worth calling out. Brecon has spent the last couple of years building this into something special, and the French countryside theme makes for a memorable, lower-key night than the big parties. Brecon is a favorite of ours for groups, it shows up in our bachelorette itineraries too. It shares the date with Opolo, so you will have to pick.

Grape Stomp & Paella at Cass Winery — October 17

We love a paella, so this one is hard not to love. Cass cooks a big pan outdoors while you stomp grapes in the sunshine. Daytime and festive, a great centerpiece for a Saturday.

Sixmilebridge Harvest Dinner — October 17

One of the prettier settings in Paso, and the view does half the work. A Saturday evening dinner that pairs well with a daytime tour winding down out that way.

Serial Wines Halloween Costume Party — October 31

A costume party and contest to close the month. Lights down, wine flowing. If you are in town for Halloween, it is a fun cap on the season, and a late one, so plan your ride.

Why harvest is the best time to tour

The wineries are alive in October in a way they are not the rest of the year. You can see the crush pad running and often catch the crews mid-work. The weather is warm days and cool nights, and the vines turn gold across the hills.

The tradeoff is that harvest is the trickiest time to visit. Events sell out, tasting reservations fill, and many of the best experiences are evening winemaker dinners spread from Templeton to the far west side, usually after a few pours. That is why a private wine tour makes more sense in October than any other month.
